Date: 01 April 2025
We are pleased to announce the latest update to Kadal Content Manager, introducing new features, interface enhancements, and key fixes to improve usability and performance.
Key Features
Agent Creation from CMS
- The AI Buddy Agent list (triggered with @) now allows users to create new agents with a master prompt, knowledge base, guidelines, templates, and LLM models.
- Agents created within Kadal Content Manager are accessible and configurable for all users of the same tenant. These agents are marked with a "Draft" state alongside published agents from Kadal AI.
- Agents published from Kadal AI cannot be modified within Kadal Content Manager.
- Note: Agents created in Kadal Content Manager will be linked to a service account in Kadal AI and will not be visible or accessible in Kadal AI upon login. This will remain as designed until the platforms are unified.
File Ingestion Status Indicators
Content ingestion in Kadal refers to the process of enriching uploaded content. This process begins automatically after file upload or manual content creation.
To enhance user awareness, the system now displays distinct icons to indicate file status in the Repository and asset picker:
- Processing: Files are being analyzed, indexed, and ingested.
- Failed: Files could not be processed and must be reuploaded.
- Available (No Icon): Files have been successfully ingested and are ready for AI interactions and search.
Additional system behavior:
- Users cannot update file properties while processing is ongoing, but files can still be used inside agents or documents.
- Failed files cannot be updated, reused, or attached as a knowledge base during agent creation.
Supported file types for ingestion:
- Documents: .docx
- Spreadsheets: .csv, .xls, .xlsx
- Text: .txt, .pdf
- Presentations: .pptx
- Media: .gif, .png, .bmp, .jpg, .jpeg, .m4a, .wav, .mp3, .mp4
- Other: .html, .epub
Note: Unsupported file types can still be uploaded to the repository but will not display ingestion status indicators.
Agent Status Indication
- If an agent's knowledge base includes files that are still being ingested or have been newly uploaded as guidelines or templates, the agent will show an "In Progress" status. This indicates that responses may be inaccurate until processing is complete.
- If an agent’s knowledge base, guidelines, or templates contain failed files, the agent will show a "Failed" status, indicating a configuration issue that requires user attention.
- Agents remain queryable regardless of their status; these indicators are for awareness only.
- Agent status indicators are displayed in both the Agent list and the selected Agent state in AI Buddy.
Note: These indications appear only when individual files are selected as part of the knowledge base. If an entire folder is selected, this status indication will not be shown. Folder-level indications will be introduced in future releases.
Other Enhancements
- Users with the "Editor" role can now create root-level files and folders in Kadal Content Manager, a privilege previously limited to Repository Managers.
- Editors can now manage metadata, both from the Metadata Library and during metadata association with files.
- Users with the "Viewer" role are now restricted from downloading assets from Kadal Content Manager.
- The CK5-RTC Usage Report tracks tenants using RTC, including the last access date and time of editors with RTC licenses and their user details. This report is currently API-based and available for internal governance.
