How to Move an Object in Kadal Content Manager
In Kadal Content Manager, moving files and folders is a simple yet essential feature that helps you organize your workspace and ensures your content is stored in the right locations. This article will walk you through the process of moving files and folders and you’ll also learn about permissions, folder access, and the limitations to keep in mind when moving objects.
-
Navigate to the file or folder you wish to move. For this example, we’ll demonstrate moving a file from My Folder to the Repository.
-
Select the Object that you want to move.
-
From the menu bar, click on the Move option.
-
A modal will appear where you can select a destination folder.
- If the file is in My Folder, you can choose a location within My Folder or the Repository.
- Files located in the Repository cannot be moved to My Folder. They can only be moved to other locations within the Repository.
- You can only move the object to locations that you have access to. Locations you do not have permission to access will be disabled in the modal.
-
If no suitable folder exists, you can create a New Folder, provided you have the appropriate permissions.
-
After selecting the destination folder, click Move to complete the action.
-
Once the move is complete, a notification will appear confirming the successful move of the file or folder.
Note: When you move a file or folder, its current permissions (Viewer, Commenter, Editor) stay unchanged. This means that existing collaborators maintain their access, ensuring a smooth transition without interruptions to collaboration.
