How to Create a Document Template Using Building Blocks
This article walks you through the process of creating a document template in Kadal using the Templates feature under Building Blocks. You'll learn how to navigate to the Template Gallery, create a new document template, customize it using the editor, and manage existing templates. This feature streamlines content creation, allowing users to reuse standardized formats across different documents.
Steps:
- Access Building Blocks
- From the sidebar menu, click on Building Blocks.
Note: This option is only available to users with the required permissions.
- Navigate to Template Gallery
- On the Building Blocks page, you'll see three types of templates:
- Document Template
- Assignment Template
- Discussion Template
- Select Document Template, then click Next to enter the Template Gallery.
- On the Building Blocks page, you'll see three types of templates:
- Create a New Template
- In the Document Template Gallery, click the + Create Template button located at the top-right corner.
- A new tab will open with a blank document template titled Untitled Template.
- Rename the Template
- Click on the title Untitled Template and enter your preferred name for the template.
- Add Content and Customize
- Use the rich text editor to add and format your content. You can:
- Format text (headings, bold, italics, etc.)
- Insert images
- Add multimedia elements

Tip: Use the AI Buddy for content suggestions or to assist in drafting sections of your template.
- Save and Manage Your Template
- Once created, your new template will appear in the Template Gallery. From here, you can:
- Preview the template
- Edit to update the template
- Delete templates you no longer need
- Once created, your new template will appear in the Template Gallery. From here, you can:
- Use the Template in Documents
- When creating or editing a document, you can insert your saved document template for faster and more consistent content creation.
- Browse Existing Templates
- On the left panel of the Template Gallery, you’ll find a list of all your templates. Click on any template to preview its contents.
